Background
I am originally from Germany and have been living in Sweden since 2009. I live with my family in Sollentuna and work as a vocational teacher at a culinary school. My creative journey began in the early 2000s with photography, photo editing, and digital art. I have also enjoyed exploring other exciting art forms, such as music and video production.
Fluid Art
When I discovered Fluid Art, I was immediately hooked and haven’t been able to let it go since! This technique involves using liquid paint mixtures poured directly onto the canvas and then distributed by tilting, spinning, or swiping the paint. If you’d like to see how I create my paintings, you can check out my Instagram @fluid.art.johannes, where I share short video clips demonstrating how each artwork you see here at the exhibition was made.
What makes Fluid Art special is that every painting is absolutely unique and cannot be reproduced. Even if you use the exact same paint mixture, the pouring process and the way the canvas is tilted ensure the paint settles differently every time. It could be described as controlled randomness.
Inspiration
I am deeply fascinated by modern physics, which seeks to explain how the universe works. For many of my paintings, I draw inspiration from physical phenomena that I attempt to visualize, such as quantum phenomena or events within a star. I also find inspiration in music, as well as fantasy and sci-fi literature. Feel free to Google the title of one of my paintings—you might stumble upon an interesting article!
